Jean-Francois Arnaud:

Biografie:
Originally from France and a graduate of the École des Beaux-Arts in Angoulême, Jean-François Arnaud has followed a rich and unconventional path through photography, printing, and graphic design. Far from being detours, these experiences have become essential tools in his artistic journey: photography taught him composition and framing, printing gave him a precise understanding of color blending, and design sharpened his sense of visual clarity and structure.
Now based in Florida, Jean-François dedicates himself entirely to watercolor and teaching. His approach is both intuitive and disciplined, rooted in strong draftsmanship, a simplified palette, and the expressive spontaneity of the brush. He believes in painting light not by adding effects, but by carefully observing and suggesting details—a refined impression rather than a literal description.
Taking a workshop with Jean-François means learning to draw better and gaining deeper control over watercolor, a medium as challenging as it is rewarding. When understood and respected, watercolor can offer a kind of poetic immediacy and beauty that no other medium can match.
He regularly teaches workshops across the United States and Europe, offering a demanding yet joyful pedagogy—clear-eyed, hands-on, and always centered on the deep pleasure of painting.
